Cocooning is a way of feeling secure in an environment that provides extra layers of nourishment, care and support . Our cocoon at the butterfly house offers programs and opportunities for families to learn about inclusive practices and young children to learn beginning play, language and mobility skills. Our cocoon is a soft and cozy. It is intended to be a welcoming and safe spot for children and families acquiring skills and support so they can thrive in the larger community. We also host and design educational workshops for those interested in learning more about our approach to early childhood care and education.
The Cocoon at the Butterfly House provides a full model classroom for children, families and service providers to explore with young children who have developmental disabilities. Children receiving services in the cocoon often receive one-on-one supports. The goal of cocooning is to learn skills for independence and autonomy. These experiences at the cocoon are designed to help children gain the skills necessary to thrive in inclusive care and learning settings.
The cocoon at the butterfly House offers the following services:
Weekly Structured Play groups for children on the spectrum or with other developmental disorders.
Behavior Management services through our parent company, Supportive Community Learning
Parent and sibling support groups
Workshops for educators
